826 Boston invites you to volunteer virtually or in person in our College Essay Boot Camp program, where you can work one on one with a high school senior to brainstorm, outline, draft, or edit those all-important 650 words.

826 Boston is a nonprofit writing, tutoring, and publishing organization where students in grades K-12 and beyond can share their stories, amplify their voices, and develop as leaders in school and in life. We run a variety of free programming at our tutoring center in Egleston Square and at Boston Public Schools throughout Roxbury, Dorchester, and Jamaica Plain. To learn more, visit 826boston.org.

No prior training is required for College Essay Boot Camp: each shift, which is between 1.5 and 2.5 hours, will include a brief training on tutoring goals and objectives.

You can tutor virtually over Zoom during three Saturdays this fall: October 30, November 20, and December 11. You can also tutor virtually with Charlestown High School and in person at TechBoston Academy during the week of October 25.

You can sign up for one or more shifts at the following link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1oCbT8dZUCAXYW6u-qJWlv_ufq_Iv0Rzvj5SykEKPF_k/

Once you sign up, we'll send you a tutor application and a background check form to fill out before your shift.
