Working with a Client

Help spread the joy of the season to families at Bridges by sponsoring them through gift cards. Gift cards such as Visa, Mastercard, or American Express empower families to experience the joy of shopping for their loved ones!

It costs $50 to sponsor a child and $100 to sponsor an adult. Once you get your family, you can purchase or collect general gift cards like the ones mentioned above. You can sponsor a family on your own, or collaborate with your friends, family, congregations, or coworkers to sponsor multiple families! Just let us know the target family size you would like to sponsor and we will pair you with a family of that size!

About Bridges To Independence

Location:

3103 9th Road North, Arlington, VA 22201, US

Mission Statement

Bridges to Independence leads individuals and families out of homelessness and into stable, independent futures. We offer a continuum of aid and support for all family members, helping them attain financial security and move forward into self-sufficiency. A private, nonprofit organization, Bridges has been working with and for families experiencing homelessness since 1985, when we were founded as the Arlington-Alexandria Coalition for the Homeless.

Description

In a nutshell, "what we do" is build bridges to independence for homeless families and families at risk of becoming homeless. Our bridges - our services - strengthen these families and provide them with the stability, skills, knowledge, and community networks to become self-sufficient. We offer supports for every family member - adults and children alike. Our short-term goal is to help individual clients right now. Long-term, we aim to break the inter-generational cycle of poverty by preparing today’s struggling kids to be tomorrow’s successful adults. From housing to financial literacy, from tutoring to youth development, from life skills to career counseling, we tailor a continuum of services. Some activities are required, some are optional, and some are just plain fun.
