Seeking Interpreting help - Use your interpreter skills to help your community!
You can make a meaningful difference in the lives of Oregon's low-income Latinx families!
By providing volunteer language interpretation service just 4-5 hours a week during tax season (January 22nd-April 15th) you can help provide a vital service and in turn an important step towards economic security to those most in need. You will also practice your skills, gain a meaningful new experience and become a part of a great team of like-minded people!
Through considerable volunteer support and dedication Metropolitan Family Service's Impuestos Comunitarios program offers free tax preparation to the community, providing taxpayers a trustworthy, culturally-specific alternative to unlicensed tax preparers and to paying to prepare their basic tax returns. Last season our volunteers helped 1,000 low-income taxpayers secure over $2 million in refunds and saved preparation fees. This season we aim to grow our volunteer team in order to meet the increasing demand for this invaluable service and we need your help!
Previous interpreting experience required, training preferred. Evening and weekend volunteer shifts available. Orientations going on now. Please contact our Site Coordinator Karen Keating at firstname.lastname@example.org with any interest or questions you have. We look forward to hearing from you!
About Metropolitan Family Service
1808 SE Belmont, Portland, OR 97214, US
Metropolitan Family Service helps people move beyond the limitations of poverty, inequality and social isolation. We serve children, families and older adults in the tri-county area. MFS is dedicated to building stronger communities by providing services, connecting people with resources, and offering meaningful and rewarding volunteer opportunities.
Metropolitan Family Service (MFS) volunteers serve in various capacities, depending on their areas of interest and abilities. Volunteers participate in on-going opportunities in one of three focus areas: helping children succeed, strengthening families and their connections to the community, and helping older adults and persons with disabilities live independently. We create opportunities that bridge generations and inspire everyone to live their best life. Additionally, MFS is the sponsor of RSVP in Multnomah County, providing meaningful volunteer opportunities for adults age 55+. With your support we are building a community that cares.
This is a Virtual Opportunity with no fixed address.
