Foundation of Allies for Black Americans is looking for an event coordinator for our event team - BAFA Village Events.

Here is more about the event you would be working on. We are looking for a motivated event coordinator to head up this 3 day event. Expectations and job description depends on your hours and availability. If your time is limited we will accept two event coordinators to work in tandem. Your responsibilities would include organizing, communicating and coordinating the vendors, sponsors, and donors for the event.

EVENT INFO:

Black Allies for our Advancement (also called BAFA), is proud to announce our

1st Annual Buy Black Bazaar -- a multi-day event offering one-stop shopping access to California's finest Black-owned businesses. This 3 day event features vendors, artists, musicians, chefs, wellness practitioners, and more from Northern, Southern, and Central California.

The BUY BLACK BAZAAR was created to support Black economy. With the intent to divert dollars to the Black community, our mission is to attract a diverse base of holiday shoppers, presenting them with an enjoyable opportunity to divert holiday spending into the community AND immerse themselves in a celebration of Black culture. The BUY BLACK BAZAAR is THE EVENT for supporting Black-owned business, art, fashion, food, music, and wellness, all set in the historical Leimert Park.

Mission Statement

AFBA is a Black-led community created to provide a safe space for aspiring non-POC allies to build deeper connections with BIPOC by way of resources, anti-racism education and trauma informed care during the decolonization journey to eradicating systemic racism.

Description

Some objectives for the group include: Informing Black people of their rights within the law and how to exercise those, including what is and is not allowed by law enforcement, what the proper response is, and how to get restitution and/or disciplinary action following misconduct by law enforcement. Dispensing info and instructions for protesting, contacting lawmakers, lobbying, boycotting, and otherwise organizing and mobilizing to affect legal and changes to the system. Educating non-Black allies on how to educate other non-Blacks outside the group. This education will be provided by Admins and is not the responsibility of members of the group. The Black members in the group are not required to educate non-Black members and may tag an Admin if instruction is needed.
