Memory Mentor volunteers provide in-home support and social connection for people with memory loss or dementia who live alone and have little or no caregiving support. Volunteers are assigned to one or more seniors and visit them on a regularly scheduled basis.
Due to COVID restrictions, telephonic services are provided until further notice and include: (1) contacting their assigned senior(s) on an agreed upon schedule to provide social support to reduce loneliness, providing reminders and, (3) providing a safety check.
When we are able to resume in-home services, volunteers will be responsible for: (1) contacting their assigned senior(s) on an agreed upon schedule to provide social support to reduce loneliness, (2) may help with grocery shopping, light meal preparation, reviewing mail with the senior, providing reminders and, (3) providing a safety check.
You can help seniors maintain their independence and ability to live at home and reduce social isolation and loneliness. Become a Memory Mentor.
