PRWA emphasizes the human health inter-connectivity with our eco-system and recognizes that our eco-system’s climate emergency requires solutions designed for resiliency. We actively partner and collaborate with many local, regional, and state organizations and agencies to inform stakeholders that a healthy watershed provides services that lower community-borne costs and directly contribute to a healthier population. Won’t you join us in our quest to create a healthier community and a healthier eco-system?

Our organization is growing and we need tax advice and accounting services. We seek a professional tax accountant to advise on payments to individuals and other tax-related matters. It would be our hope that the individual may recommend/vet accounting software for our organization and take part in discussions about organizational growth and risk.

Mission Statement

Working with a variety of stakeholders, PRWA will protect and restore the Pequabuck River and its tributaries to improve water quality for human health through a diverse and stable watershed eco-system.

Description

The Pequabuck River Watershed Association (PRWA) works in Bristol, Burlington, Farmington, Harwinton, Plainville, and Plymouth to promote a healthy watershed and protect our waterways through education, advocacy, outreach, and natural improvement programs. PRWA incorporated in 1995 and was granted 501(c)3 status in 1997. Annually, Pequabuck River Watershed Association, participates in more than a dozen community outreach events designed to raise awareness of our river, educate the public on point and non-point source pollution, educate students on the stream morphology and the water cycle, and encourage composting. Working with community stakeholders, Pequabuck River Watershed improves the environment by managing local forested wetlands and installing bioinfiltration improvements such as rain gardens. We also advocate on behalf of healthy water initiatives such as banning fracking waste, updating the bottle bill, and adoption of a statewide water plan.
