We are an all-volunteer, non-profit organization looking for a social media team to increase our engagement with the prison reform community. If you are a social media star on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram, we need you! Ideally this team would consist of at least one volunteer on each of those three platforms, to help us develop a plan to achieve celebrity sponsorship to help our organization get maximum exposure and grow our audience and, ideally, avenues for funding our work.

Mission Statement

To remind the world and those caught in the grip of the justice system that both accused and adjudicated are human. To provide relief, comfort, and hope to those facing judgement, and to help those sentenced emerge from prison whole, knowing they are part of a larger family that loves and cares for them. Ultimately, Adopt an Inmate would seek to change prison itself from an arbitrary system of cruelty and punishment to one which internally recognizes the humanity of its charges and treats them accordingly such that recidivism is rare, rather than a feature of our current system’s design.

We are an all-volunteer organization that matches up outside volunteers with people on the inside who are looking for mentorship and support. We do not charge inmates or their families for our services. To date we have gotten over 2,000 prisoners adopted. We also partner with university professors and students on collaborative projects involving data we have collected directly from prisoners in our database. (Volunteering does not require direct communication with prisoners). Students of criminal justice, sociology, political science, counseling, psychology, etc., will find this work especially educational and rewarding. As a non-profit, we can provide community service hours.
