ORGANIZATION: Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital

Girl Scouts Nation's Capital, the largest Girl Scout council in the country, is hosting a virtual "Cookie Convention" to get girls excited about entrepreneurship and business skills. We are looking for guest speakers to talk about business skills, ambition, and their own experiences as women in the world of business. There will be time for the girls to ask questions as well.

There are two sessions available: one is for younger girls (ages 7-11) and one is for older girls (ages 12-18). Volunteers should indicate if they are interested in one or both of the sessions!

Virtual Cookie Convention (ages 7-11): 5:30-6:15pm EST
Virtual Cookie Convention (ages 12-18): 6:30-7:15 EST

Mission Statement

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. We seek to accomplish this by providing girls opportunities to develop their potential and have fun with their peers in a supportive, all-girl setting.

Description

Founded in 1912, Girl Scouts of the USA is the preeminent organization for girls with a current membership of 3.6 million girls and adults. Volunteers use their expertise, skills, interests, and life experience to shape fun and enriching leadership experiences for girls, and inspire them to reach their personal best. Volunteers help council staff facilitate the New Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girls through exciting program opportunities: leadership/self-esteem, financial literacy, travel, health/wellness, science, technology, engineering, and math. Volunteers choose from several flexible Pathways (the ways that girls and adults join Girl Scouting) that fit their lifestyles, including short-term or long-term service working either directly or indirectly with girls, and they can participate regionally, nationally, and internationally.
