ORGANIZATION: A NEW GRIP INC

  • 2 people are interested

A New Grip is looking for motivated and dedicated volunteers to support our fundraising efforts, share our social media posts, and volunteer time to work/assist at the events we host. Volunteering includes attending one volunteers meeting a month and the possibility of being available to assist with our fund raising events in person, such as grappling tournaments, jiu jitsu seminars, trivia nights, etc.
We are looking for individuals that are interested in learning about how to detect and prevent human trafficking/sex trafficking. We are looking for individuals that are interested in brainstorming ideas to help our organization raise money to support survivors. We are looking for individuals that know how to write grant proposals or would be interested in learning. And we are always looking for new ideas on how to grow our organization and increase our network!
If you are interested in assisting survivors of human and/or sex trafficking, we would love for you to volunteer with us!
Practicing Brazilian JiuJitsu is not a requirement to participate in our organization.

About A NEW GRIP INC

Location:

Mission Statement

The Mission of A New Grip is to help sexually exploited individuals as well as human trafficked survivors take back their lives and find their inner peace again using Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as form of therapy and exercise.

Description

A New Grip is actively working with survivors of human/sex trafficking to teach them Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as part of their healing process. A New Grip will by no means try to replace any therapy options already in place. Instead, A New Grip is another tool to add to the tool belt of healing. A New Grip’s goal is to approach trauma healing from a perspective that is different from most therapy options. A New Grip’s approach is healing through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
We host major events at least twice a year, grappling tournaments, BJJ seminars, etc., in which we need volunteers to help at the events and spread the word via Social Media. We hope to teach survivors the basics of BJJ, then sponsor them once they graduate from their recovery programs to help them find a gym where they can continue training and help cover their gym fees until they get stable.
We often participate in training courses to learn more about trafficking and how to properly and safely interact with trafficking survivors. You do not have to know or train in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to work with our organization!
