Volunteers
Volunteers make this Team Challenge ALS event possible. From event planning to post-event breakdown, The ALS Association DC/MD/VA Chapter depends on people donating their time and talents in order to produce successful events that raise awareness and fund the mission.
In appreciation for your volunteer efforts, you will be provided an event T-Shirt, commemorative Pint glass, lunch and two drink tickets (21+). Why we Ride
The first annual Blue Ridge Ride to Defeat ALS is Saturday, May 13, 2023. This is is a one-day cycling and power chair challenge event designed to appeal to every level of cyclist and supporter of the ALS Association (ALSA) DC/MD/VA Chapter. We will start and end for a celebration with music at our very generous sponsor Pro Re Nata (prnbrewery.com). Together, we can help raise awareness, and provide hope for patients and families living with ALS.
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig’s disease, is currently a 100% fatal neurological disorder, with no known cause or cure. Survival timelines are dismal, with most patients losing their battle in three-to-five years from symptom onset. About 20,00 persons (pALS) and their families are living with ALS at any given time. A short-term goal is to make ALS survivable by 2030.

The ALS Association DCMDVA Chapter is dedicated to the fight against ALS in many ways, including funding global research efforts, supporting scientific and clinical collaboration, connecting people with ALS to clinical trials, partnering with multidisciplinary ALS clinics and centers, providing professional care management services to families facing ALS, and pursuing important public policy initiatives.
