Volunteer role description:
Provide proactive support and excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and other hospital guests
Assist patients, visitors, and other guests with way finding
Escort patients, visitors, and other guests to their appointment destination and ensuring a confirmed hand-off to a staff member
Proactively approach customers to welcome them and determine and assist with their needs
Provide comfort conversation to visitors in waiting area
Coordinate with Access to staff to ensure patients are not waiting longer than 10 minutes in waiting area
When needed, safely transport patients, visitors, and other guests by wheelchair, using appropriate body mechanics
Proactively round in lobby area every 15 minutes. Offer magazines or drinks to people who are waiting and engage in conversation as needed
Share positive messages with patients, visitors, and other guests as you visit, escort or transport them to their point of service
Check for wheelchairs to ensure they are in wheelchair area when needed
Check on and assist other sub departments in area

- Salem Health's time commitment - you must be able to volunteer for 8 months, 4 hours, once per week. Of course you are OK to not volunteer on holiday's, special occasions, emergencies etc.
