Want to help families get the money they deserve, but not ready to be a Tax Preparer? We have the perfect opportunity for you!

Free Tax Prep volunteers directly support individuals and families striving to achieve economic well-being. In addition to providing tax preparation, there are other roles, such as greeters and support, who are essential to ensuring Free Tax Prep services are provided effectively and efficiently.

Not a tax expert? No problem! There are volunteer roles for all interests, including:

  • Greeters
  • Translators and interpreters
  • Support personnel who help with appointments and calling filers.
We provide training (December - January with self-study options available) and on-going support. To be a great volunteer, you just need to be:
  • Personable and friendly
  • Comfortable working with a diverse group of clients
  • Willing to ask questions
  • Comfortable using a computer if preparing taxes
  • Curious about learning new skills
  • Willing to adhere to high ethical standards

United Way of Greater Cincinnati was founded in 1915. The annual fundraising campaign became a partnership with American Red Cross, Cincinnati Area Chapter, in 1956. Today the organization covers ten counties: Hamilton, Brown, Butler and Clermont in Ohio; Boone, Campbell, Grant, and Kenton in Northern Kentucky; and Dearborn and Ohio counties in Southeast Indiana.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18
  • Orientation or Training
  • Training (minimum 7 hours) + minimum 12 hours of tax prep support (3 four-hour shifts)
  • IRS Certification (training and ongoing support provided)
