The Plant Exchange

2016 Exchange

We are a 15-year old 501c3 fun business in the reuse and environmental space. This project involves, reviewing our growth plans for the next 2-3 years along with other key information and identify the areas that can be formulated into a medium-term consulting project. The second part of this is to lead the search, interview and selection process for that opportunity. We are growing quickly and are currently in negotiation to lease larger space to consolidate operations. Ideally this HR project will start this month. Does this sound interesting?

About The Plant Exchange

Location:

4500 Lincoln Ave, Oakland, CA 94607, US

Mission Statement

The Plant Exchange's mission is to help neighbors and local groups build community and strengthen social ties using plants and gardening as an excuse.

Description

The Plant Exchange is a biannual community event in Oakland, California which encourages reuse, recycling, organic living, resource sharing, and information exchange. Neighbors, gardeners, landscapers, urban farmers, and outdoor fans come from all over the San Francisco Bay Area. Every March and October the plant exchange attracts over 600 people where equipment, tools, advice and plants are all exchanged for free.

If you have plants or garden items to exchange, bring them to our event. Even if you have no items for exchange, please consider donating your time to volunteering at this event. All types of plants are welcome, from cuttings to full size. This event celebrates abundance, generosity, and community spirit. It attracts hundreds of plant lovers each year. Over 2,500 plants exchange hands at each event. Several Master Gardeners are also available to offer free advice, as well as other services offered by local businesses.

We also issue an annual award for creative use of plant materials in public and private spaces. The Plant Exchange wishes to acknowledge a cluster of organized efforts that strengthen planting on our public streets and spaces.
