Help individuals with disabilities ride horses! No experience is needed, we provide all necessary training. As a "side walker" you will stay next to the rider and provide physical and/or emotional support throughout the lesson. Your role is a mash-up of friend/mentor/and teacher for the riders. If you love being outside and helping others, then this role is perfect for you!
Requirements: Volunteers need to be able to walk in sandy footing. Volunteers need to be able to help on a recurring basis, every Saturday for six weeks. Volunteers ages 14 and older are welcome.

Mission Statement
Chastain Horse Park's mission is to empower riders of all abilities through life-changing relationships with horses.
Description
Chastain Horse Park serves riders of all skill levels including riders with cognitive, physical or mental disabilities.
Our volunteers are a vibrant group of individuals who are committed to helping provide therapeutic riding services to children and adults with disabilities through Therapeutic Riding, Hippotherapy, and Community Outreach groups.
Our therapeutic program is part of each rider’s treatment program to achieve functional goals. Our volunteers work with our PATH, Intl. certified instructors and licensed therapists, helping our riders reach their individual goals, as well as caring for our horses, who allow us all to learn and grow.
Our volunteers are a critical part in meeting the goals and needs of our riders and horses, and we could not do it without them! We always need and welcome new volunteers. To volunteer, you must first attend a volunteer orientation. Experience is not necessary; we will provide all necessary training.
Our volunteers love the time with the horses and their riders. Many volunteers work with the same riders and horses every week. The relationships they form makes a huge difference in the riders' and horses' lives, as well as their own.
