The San Francisco Tenants Union is looking for new members for our Continuity Committee/Board Members who will bring a fresh perspective to our organization to support our mission to promote the preservation and expansion of the rights of tenants and the supply of affordable housing.

We are looking for such qualities as:

    1. Supporting financial management and budget development
    2. Building organizations, developing internal policies and processes, and long-term planning
    3. Building culture and/or acting as a mediator/process leader when there is conflict
    4. Employment law and human resources policy
    5. Spotting legal liability issues related to social justice organizations

Mission Statement

The SF Tenants Union is a non-profit, membership supported organization. We believe that housing is a basic human right which should be available to all people, regardless of income, and that no person should be homeless for any reason.

Description

The SF Tenants Union provides tenants rights counseling for members and non-members at a drop-in clinic. The SFTU also provides organizing assistance for tenants who want to start building tenants unions. Other SFTU work includes direct action and legislative advocacy, including two successful city propositions. The SFTU is a strong advocate for people who are homeless and provides organizing support for Homes Not Jails, a direct action housing rights organization.
