Event Description:

The Commonpoint Queens Volunteer Services Department seeks volunteers to serve with the Commonpoint Queens Special Services Department's Basketball Buddies program.

Volunteer Responsibilities

Volunteers are expected to work with the participants in a 3:1 ratio, they are expected to engage the participants in the sport and show them good sportsmanship. They are expected to help assist in setting up and cleaning up the equipment.

Volunteer Requirements

  • Interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to volunteer at the same time each week for the duration of the program;
  • Knowledge of the game of basketball;
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting;
  • Proof of compliance with our COVID-19 vaccination policy.

Description

For almost 60 years, Commonpoint Queens (formerly The Samuel Field and Central Queens YMWHA) has remained strong and vital and has continued to provide new and innovative programs to the greater Northeast Queens and Western Nassau communities.

As we embark on our sixth decade of providing high quality programs and services to our community, individuals of all ages learn and flourish within a caring and supportive environment at one of our 36 different sites throughout our neighborhoods.

We continue to provide life enhancing and life sustaining services to the over 35,000 people who depend on us to be their community center at each stage of their lives.
