Having a diverse group of patients with individual backgrounds and personalities means we need a diverse group of volunteers to help meet our patient’s needs. Whether your passion is storytelling, music, hospitality, medicine, animals, or mechanics, there is a place for you on our hospice team. The primary role of the Patient Support Volunteer is to provide in-person emotional and/or practical support to patients and/or their families. Although the needs of individual patients vary, common responsibilities of a Patient Support Volunteer include:
- Conversing with patients
- Provide respite for family or caregivers
- Light housework (grocery pickup, cleaning, meal preparation, etc.)
- Reading, watching TV, or playing games with patients
- Documenting visits in an online medical record

A multi-disciplinary team of physician, nurses, hospice aides, social workers, bereavement counselors and volunteers works together to address the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of each patient and family. The hospice team provides care to patients in their own home.
