The role of the ES is to provide quality care, handling and maintenance of the OBH herd. Volunteers who fill this position must have or be willing to develop attention to detail for proper care of the horses. This role lays the foundation for the horses and staff to be productive in any of the equine assisted services, rescue, or training that OBH offers.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to eliminate barriers preventing marginalized and urban communities from having access to horses. Our goal is to open doors to the equestrian community to all, thus creating a more inclusive world of horses. We create access to horses through volunteering, Equine Assisted Learning and Coaching, equine rescuing, equine leasing, and partnership with local individuals or groups/businesses.
Description
Olive’s Branch Healing Incorporated (OBH) is a non-profit volunteer and donor based horse rescue dedicated to diversifying the equestrian community while also ensuring proper care, nutrition, and training for rescue horses. Cultivating a safe and welcoming environment is at the forefront of our work as we seek to extend the hospitality of Christ to any who come through our doors.
Our volunteers are crucial because they are not only gaining experience with the horses, but life skills that can be applied to other areas of their lives. Volunteers keep the wheel of OBH going and offer the horses new interactions to keep them learning.
Our goal for the next year is to get solidified with 2 volunteers at each shift which generally run about 3hrs each. We are also needing volunteers to help with the business management aspect of things like marketing, volunteer coordinator, and more. In addition, we are looking for board members who are passionate about creating access to horses and agriculture related activities for marginalized and urban communities.
We are still very young (EST June 2020), but believe in the healing work the horses offer to us. We hope you will consider how you might get involved to create a more diverse equestrian world!
