Event Description: Join us for a deep dive into how the real science from our world parallels the magic from Harry Potter! Test your logic skills against the Sphinx and learn the true origins of many mythological creatures. Learn how animals can suffer from the effects of the Imperius Curse in real life and brave the menagerie of captured magical creatures in our Auror Training Obstacle Course! A planetarium show, Skies Over Hogwarts, will feature stars and constellations that share traits with Harry Potter characters. Our shop will be stocked for all your Wizarding needs. There may even be some surprises you'll have to come out to see! Put on your best dress robes and join us for Harry Potter Science Saturday at the Museum of York County!
Volunteer Needs:
Assist staff at stations
Collect tickets and assist with planetarium seating
Stamp programs
Help direct parking
Monitor the front door
Assist with outdoor activities
Monitor games
Help as needed

Description
The Culture & Heritage Museums is a family of museums in York County, SC, which includes Historic Brattonsville, the McCelvey Center, the Museum of York County and the Main Street Children's Museum in Old Town Rock Hill.
Historic Brattonsville presents the history of the Scots-Irish and African-Americans in the South Carolina upcountry largely through preserving and interpreting the story of the Bratton community from the 1760s to the late 19th century. Experience living history, including the African American story, at this 775-acre Revolutionary War site. Explore the Bratton Plantation, owned and lived on by three generations of the Bratton family.
Explore the Carolina Piedmont and its connections to the world at the Museum of York County! Our Naturalist Center has more than 2000 specimens to guide your learning adventures. We have a state of the art digital planetarium. We offer award-winning exhibitions and programs on a variety of natural history topics.
