Since 2016, Moving Health (formally The Okoa Project) has been redefining emergency transportation by addressing geographically neglected areas to address the health crises that these communities face every day by providing opportunities for safer, faster emergency care. Unlike other companies, our primary goal is to use human centered design to create solution that the communities actually want, making our solution more sustainable, cost effective, and reliable than alternative options.
Our work fills a desperately needed gap by providing sustainable, low-cost emergency transportation in areas that do not have any. Not only do our ambulances save lives, but our intersectional approach to global health and technology allows us to capture our impact with precision and create opportunities through learning and innovation.
JOB OVERVIEW
Moving Health is organization that a comprises of enthusiastic team whose passion is about solving the health care emergency logistics issue of the unreached communities of Africa and other parts of the world. Currently, we are running our pilot program in the Sissala East in the Upper West Region of Ghana and as we look forward to commerce the next phase of the project, we are looking for Mechanical Engineering volunteers who will work with our team to turn ideas and concept into technical drawings and 2D/3D models and also assist in the manufacturing those models into actual products.
MECHANICAL ENGINEER JOB DESCRIPTION
Volunteer Position 1: Product Design Engineer
- Work on product specification and requirement design.
- Generate technical drawings and 2d/3d model using CAD software, Fusion 360
- Design and develop evaluation platform for testing and validating new product designs.
- Advise fabricators in manufacturing processes and improving design for manufacturing
- Prepare Documentation for manufacturing procedures.
- Evaluate final product’s overall performance, reliability and safety.
- Develop maintenance standards, schedules and programs
- Plan and manage projects, and prepare material, cost and timing estimates, reports and design specifications for machinery and systems.
