ORGANIZATION: SUICIDE AWARENESS-VOICES OF EDUCATION

  • 2 people are interested

SAVE was one of the nation’s first organizations dedicated to the prevention of suicide. Our work is based on the foundation and belief that suicide is preventable and everyone has a role to play in preventing suicide. Through raising public awareness, educating communities, and equipping every person with the right tools, we know we can SAVE lives.

SAVE is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors and operating under the nonprofit laws of the State of Minnesota. SAVE works at the international, national, state and local levels to prevent suicide using a public health model in suicide prevention; concentrating its efforts on education and awareness. SAVE operates by the guidelines published in the Surgeon Generals Call to Action to Prevent Suicide (1999) and the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention (2012). Over the years, SAVE’s Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers have included survivors who bring a special affinity for suicide prevention, along with other skills, to ensure organizational growth, development and effective management and operational talents to the agency.

As the Charter Leader (Dustin), my job is to spread awareness around my County and be the first line of defense to anyone who is going through depression or has any suicidal thoughts or needs help coping with the loss of someone to suicide. I oversee a team of volunteers that are apart of my charter and each of them have a different role in the charter. We do public speaking events, host zoom meetings, host fun events for people to get involved in and raise money in our County for our organization.

Im actively seeking volunteers to help me spread Awareness about Suicide and other Mental Health Issues across New Jersey. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and pass a Background Check.

Description

Suicide Awareness Voices of Education

SAVE was one of the nation’s first organizations dedicated to the prevention of suicide. Our work is based on the foundation and belief that suicide is preventable and everyone has a role to play in preventing suicide. Through raising public awareness, educating communities, and equipping every person with the right tools, we know we can SAVE lives.

For 30 years with more than 20 Charters, SAVE has been the leading national organization working to prevent suicide through public awareness, education and as a resource for suicide survivors. SAVE developed the best practices for Media Reporting on Suicide, several award-winning media campaigns, the only certification program for safe messaging and the National Media Award. SAVE developed an evidence-based school-based program (LEADS); conducts training for professionals and communities globally, and thousands of SAVE’s best practice resources are distributed annually. SAVE’s Peer Connections is the only peer support program dedicated to suicide prevention and our workplace prevention programs and partnership with Willis Towers Watson in the construction industry are the gold standard for companies.

SAVE was recognized as a Champion of Change by The White House, has received numerous awards and is one of fewer than 2,000 charities to have received the America’s Best Charities seal.
