ORGANIZATION: SOUTH SOUND SURFRIDER FOUNDATION

Hello, The South Sound Surfrider executive committee is looking for a new Secretary!

The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit grassroots organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of our world’s oceans, waves and beaches through a powerful activist network. Founded in 1984 by a handful of visionary surfers, the Surfrider Foundation now maintains over 50,000 members and 83 chapters across the United States and Puerto Rico, with international affiliates in Australia, Europe, Japan and Brazil.

The South Sound Chapter of Surfrider serves the Tacoma, Gig Harbor and the southern Puget Sound region. We are an entirely volunteer run chapter consisting of 6 Executive Committee members. We are surfers, beach-goers, paddlers, divers, and those who simply love our marine waters and beaches in Washington State.

Secretary - Must be a Surfrider Foundation Member, 2 to 20 hours per week, 2-year commitment, one chapter meeting per month and or Executive Committee meeting per month

* Takes notes at chapter meetings, including key decisions and action items, and distributes to attendees and Regional or National Staff in a timely manner (i.e. within one week of the meeting)
* Sends meeting reminders via email. This could be delegate or shared * Writes letters to outside parties as needed including elected officials, donors, and others deserving thanks from the chapter
* Contribute to the chapter’s website and social media pages
* Maintain a supply of chapter stationary
* Maintain EC member’s info in the Chapter Database
* Possibly - communicate to the chapter membership via mass emails
