ORGANIZATION: BUTTE COUNTY LOCAL FOOD NETWORK

Great opportunity to build your resume. Small, but mighty, nonprofit that focuses on creating a healthy, just, resilient and regenerative local food system in Butte Co and our foodshed has tons of projects, even more potential and we need help funding to see them happen.

We seek those who like to eat healthy food, that are of a like mind and are ready to start their journey in making a huge difference right here and right now. Action is foremost for us, but to be truly sustainable in the long run, we need resources.

While it would be great to work with a seasoned fundraiser, we don't necessarily require experience in it. What's needed is a self directed, curious, person with initiative that wants to learn how to create a fundraising strategy then campaigns for to large donors and corporate sponsorships, then become an expert in donor retention. If you don't have experience, you can take online webinars around fundraising, then practice in the real world. We also have access to a few platforms that teach you how to do it. You will be working closely with the Director for this project so won't be entirely on your own.

You'll be rasing money for a community garden, seeds to share with the community, installing gardens in people's back yards, our Angel Program for our Farmers Marketmobile, outreach and education and simple survival.

Join part of a collaborative, but independently based team and contribute to your community by joining us and making the work stronger.

We are also open to talking about you about ultimately developing a paid position for yourself, but that will need to be negotiated with time.

We seek someone who:

  • Cares about local food.
  • Is dependable, creative and independent and works collaboratively and cooperatively.
  • Does what they say you will do in the time they say they will do it, and initiate conversations if they are unable to follow through

If you are interested in the position, please apply by sending a note telling us why you want this job, what real life experience you have in grant writing (not necessary to have any for this position) and what skills and/or attibutes you have that make you the best person for the job. We would love more than one person for this position to be part of a team.

Description

We are a group of folks who share your dreams of health and community

We have a shared vision that the way in which our food grows impacts us personally as well as the planet and all Life on earth. We value community and connection that fosters a sense of belonging and healthy real food security for all.

Our vision for Butte County is to create a strong local food system as the basis of a strong local economy, anchored in a healthy community that thrives on neighbors helping neighbors.

We are working from backyard gardens all the way to the whole Northstate to create more food security. This involves everything from informing folks on the importance of buying food from our local farmers, to growing food to policy work.

Our signature event, is the Garden BLITZ. We build up to 150 the Spring to create a community that grows food together. Our Eat Your Lawn program invites folks to turn their whole lawns into Permaculture Food Forests.

We do monthly educational meetups, Farm to Fork Feasts with some of our local growers, put on educational events, and have a Famers Marketmobile. We are also, in conjuction with community stakeholders, writing a Local Food Assessment, the final report will be available by Feb. 2022.
