About Codeucate
Codeucate is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide computer science education to elementary and middle school students to prepare them to enter an increasingly technological world. Codeucate provides this education through tutoring in schools, in libraries, and through video conferencing. To connect with children, we also partner with schools, libraries, park districts, and more. We prioritize providing quality education and incorporating as much collaboration and human interaction through safe, remote experiences.
Job Summary
Codeucate is a made up of a talented pool of individuals who are committed to enabling the younger generation to learn more about computer science. We are currently looking for a Teaching/ Course Development Manager who can effectively oversee, direct, and expand our classes and courses. In this role, your duties will include planning the logistics of continuous course cycles, managing volunteers and their virtual classes, and supervising the development of coding courses.
Required Qualifications:
- Leadership, managerial, and teaching experience (preferred)
- Have in depth knowledge of teaching pedagogy and teaching standards
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
General Responsibilities:
- Gathering demand from students and teachers to set up classes
- Fostering continuous student enrollment and retention through successful execution of course cycles
- Coordinate creation of coding language courses
- Supervise the teaching and course development team
- Demonstrate patience and use effective explanations when mentoring interns
- Screen volunteer teachers for quality teaching
Because Codeucate is a 501-c3 not-for-profit organization, this position is not paid. There may be a stipend based on performance with an additional 10% of the total revenue from new students. This compensation is Codeucate's way of showing appreciation for the dedication of the Teaching Manager.
The work schedule is flexible and requires at least 20-25 hours per week.
With Covid-19 considerations, this position will be remote.

We also seek to provide a way for the computer science community to maintain human interaction and collaboration in these times.
Description
We have provided thousands of hours of instructions for students, and have employees from all across the USA. We are headquartered in Chicago, but are expanding across the United States. We rely on volunteer service to keep our courses free or almost free for the students who are trying to learn computer science.
