Mission: We empower socially and economically oppressed members of greater Los Angeles by equipping them with tools to overcome job insecurity, food insecurity, and houselessness. In doing so, we enable our community not simply to survive, but to thrive: to regain their footing with full-time jobs, steady income, and the self-confidence needed to maintain and build on these accomplishments.
Volunteer Role & Responsibilities: The Social Media Manager would be responsible for maintaining a steady online presence and voice for LA Community Alliance on our Facebook and Instagram accounts, and would be comfortable reaching out to all levels of staff to generate content. The ideal candidate would be passionate about mental health and have an appreciation for the diverse communities we serve. Responsibilities include:
Using Canva to design social media posts
Managing our Twitter account and engaging the public by commenting on posts, responding to questions, etc.
Creating and sending out weekly/monthly email newsletters
Brainstorming campaign ideas
Creating a social media content calendar
Writing and posting articles on your website
Requirements: Passion for social media, supporting low-income individuals in attaining employment, and increasing our outreach. Self-starter comfortable reaching out to all levels of staff to generate content. 1-2 hours per week done remotely on an ongoing basis.
