The Midnight Mission

Join L.A. Works in celebrating our 30th Anniversary! To honor this milestone, this November we are organizing volunteers to provide 30,000 meals in 30 days for food insecure Angelenos.

Sign up here for the virtual kick-off event on November 6th with sandwich making and educational food insecurity speakers.

Sandwich making from your home kitchen with a demo from our special guests and then drop them off at one of our partner locations.

Learn more about the food insecurity crisis in L.A. through educational guest speakers. How did it happen? What isn't working? And What is working?

IMPACT: During the COVID-19 crisis, rates of food insecurity, employment income loss, and housing non-payments have been high. Feeding America projects that 42 million people, including 13 million children, are experiencing food insecurity through the year 2021. Many people who have been most impacted by the pandemic were food insecure or at risk of food insecurity before COVID-19 and are facing greater hardship since COVID-19. Join us and be part of the change by helping us fight food insecurity!

ABOUT THE VIRTUAL EVENT: In this virtual volunteer opportunity, you'll purchase food items in order to assemble a minumum of ten sandwich sack lunches. You'll meet virtually with other sack lunch assemblers in a Zoom meeting where we will have special guests that will demo their faviorte sandwich making skills! You will also learn more about Midnight Mission, Hollywood Food Coalition, and food insecurity in LA as you pack these lunches. You'll then deliver the sack lunches to one of the partner sites, who will in turn put them in the hands that need them most in our community.

LOCATION: This opportunity is virtual. You will be emailed the zoom link after signing up. To participate in the volunteer project, you will need to be able to drop-off your sack lunches at one of our partner locations. Further drop-off instructions will be provided once you've signed up.

REQUIREMENTS: Sack lunches should consist of...

Pre-purchase food items (like lunchmeat and side snacks) to assemble a minimum of ten (10) sandwich sack lunches during the project.

Ham, turkey, or beef sandwich with light mayo/mustard (To be cautious of nut allergies, we request no peanut butter and jelly sandwiches please)

2+ side snacks (chips, fruit, granola bars, cheese, etc)

Deliver the packed lunches to one of our partner drop-off locations on the same day by 1:00 PM!
