Since 2018 the Music Moves Hartford Street Choir has served those who face homelessness in downtown Hartford by building a permanent and safe community for self expression. We make music together, and we spread joy by performing publicly. The Music Moves Hartford Street Choir performed 19 public concerts in 2019. Participants are able to succeed at something everyone can do with a little practice: making music. We serve 60 adults in Hartford who are facing homelessness. Through our safe and happy community we are also able to help connect them with other services they need. Each participants gets a bus pass as a thank you after each rehearsal, and we serve a community meal. We have been on hiatus since mid March 2019, but are starting again on Wednesday, October 6, 2021.
We need two volunteers who can help prepare food for to-go lunches for those facing homelessness between 10:30am-1:00pm on Wednesdays, beginning on Wednesday, October 6. Volunteers will be under the direction of our cook, and no experience is required.
We also need two volunteers who would like to help in the music rehearsal and also help assemble and hand out to-go lunches after rehearsal.
There is no experience required in any particular field to be a very influential volunteer.
Volunteers should be vaccinated for COVID-19.
Music Moves Hartford is a joint project of Cuatro Puntos (www.cuatropuntos.org) and Christ Church Cathedral (www.cccathedral.org)

10:30 AM to 01:00 PM
This will continue weekly at the same time, and we'd love to have volunteers who can return and get to know our community.
About CUATRO PUNTOS
45 CHURCH ST, HARTFORD, CT 06103, US
Cuatro Puntos is dedicated to intercultural dialogue and universal access through the performance, writing, and teaching of music.
"Cuatro Puntos" means "four points" in Spanish and is a multi-faceted, arts non-profit organization that uses music for social change and empowerment of the underserved. We have host a multi-cultural concert series in Connecticut, the Music Moves Hartford Street Choir for homeless and food/housing insecure residents, and Music/Curriculum Alignment programs in school classrooms. Our roster of professional, resident musicians collaborate with local, national, and international guest artists to produce genre-defying and culturally significant concert programing and album recordings. Our street choir fills the city with song. Here music is not a museum- it is a living, breathing part of society and a relevant vehicle for addressing social issues. Our ongoing programming takes place in Connecticut in Hartford, Glastonbury, and Norwich- however we do frequent concerts, school visits, and collaborations around the country and the world.
