Description of Duties: Help parking lot attendant in guiding traffic, maintenance of the parking lot and outside of the building.
Volunteer Impact: Assist MEND with safely guiding our clients thru the parking lot and having a clean building.
Specific Responsibilities: Help parking attendant with set up of your station as necessary. Ensure you have necessary materials (Cones, signs, stop sign, vest) before guiding traffic. Comply with use of all required PPE as instructed by COVID Supervisor. Communicate with immediate supervisor to get any instructions or changes for the day. Communicate any important message to the client as necessary. Help with breakdown of your station as needed. Proactively approach, greet and acknowledge all MEND guests, volunteers, and clients in a friendly, professional manner. Regulate traffic in parking lot by providing entry access to authorized vehicles and restricting unauthorized vehicles. Direct guests to parking areas or parking spaces as they arrive. Watch parking lot for suspicious activity and report it to immediate supervisor. May sometimes need to help with other tasks as needed.
Skills/Experience/Resources/Certifications Needed: Good communication skills; ability to interact with other volunteers, PWE-Paid Work Experience participants, Service-Learning and clients. Volunteers must be patient while working with MEND acquaintances. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Dress Code: Required to wear face mask before entering building. Other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided to tailor the specific role such as gloves, gowns, face shield as instructed by MEND COVID-19 Supervisor. Wear comfortable, light clothes (i.e. pants, t-shirt) and closed toe shoes. Shoes must provide safe, secure footing. Steel toed shoes preferred. Shorts may be worn under the following conditions: All shorts must fall at the knee, All shorts must be worn at waist level (no 'sagging’), Shorts must be made of cotton, jean, or 'Dickies’ type material (no nylon type or running shorts, bicycle type shorts, yoga shorts).
