We look for young as well as senior people who have the right aptitude , are willing to compromise with challenging situations/living conditions and are willing to sacrifice something for the betterment of others with humility, then this is the opportunity for you. This position will provide opportunity to live with people in rural mountainous area, live and learn of their culture and try innovative ideas/approaches for their improvement in quality of lives.
We need volunteers to support our waste management initiative whereby we educate school children and rural communities on minimise waste generation, segregation and recycling for better health, environment and improved quality of life. So far there has been no mechanism in the rural areas for waste management and littering can be seen all around. Inculcating good habits through education and launch of physical cleanliness campaigns will help the local communities in the long run without being dependent on outside resources.
This is a self-financed programme (US$ 400 for a month). The volunteers can work for any period from a minimum of 3 weeks to 6 months. The contribution covers living expenses of volunteers, local travel and administrative expenses of the programme. The savings of the programme (approximately 20%) are used for community development projects.
The programme runs round the year.
