Overview: At the Buffalo Museum of Science, we take pride in providing an environment that inspires curiosity, self-directed learning, and fun for our guests of all ages. All staff are recruited, trained, directed, and developed with this in mind. We believe that science is fun and that everyone can be a scientist when they make observations and ask questions. Research shows that when you mix GREAT SERVICE with GREAT PEOPLE, the result is LASTING MEMORIES for our guests.
Description: Docents for Lost Beauty II will be expected to engage with our visitors while experiencing our collection items in a whole new way. Docents will be given a training manual on the paintings and collection items on display as well as a 45-60 minute training. Docents should be comfortable with engaging with visitors. Docents and visitors are expected to wear mask the entire time in the museum.
Primary responsibilities:
- Arrive on time for event
- Greet guests with a smile
- Answer questions from guests
- Ensure visitors are following rules within exhibit (i.e. no food or drink & no running etc)
- Complete training
Requirements:
- Must be 16 years of age.
- Outgoing personality and comfortable engaging with visitors
- Art knowledge is a plus but not recommended
- Communication skills
Length of Commitment:
Duration of exhibit. Exhibit runs from October 16-December 23rd.
Can discuss staying long term if volunteer is interested.

History
Founded in 1861, the Buffalo Society of Natural Sciences has been collecting, studying and providing learning experiences for the people of the Greater Niagara Region for146 years. The Society carries its work out at several different locations throughout the region, including: The Buffalo Museum of Science, Tifft Nature Preserve, neighborhood-based community centers and other outreach locations.
