Allston Brighton CDC’s Youth Development Program is a new program made possible through a state grant focused on the positive youth development of young people living at one of the Boston Housing Authority/BHA developments in Brighton (Faneuil Gardens). This program seeks to provide academic support, and enrichment, arts education, financial empowerment, leadership training, and civic engagement opportunities. We are looking for creative, energetic, and motivated individuals to help us deliver out-of-school time programming to youth to foster the social-emotional, intellectual, and artistic growth in young people!

The Faneuil Gardens program will be located at: 266 North Beacon Street, Brighton, MA 02134 and also at Commonwealth Development at 35 Fidelis Way in Brighton, MA.

Mission Statement

Allston Brighton CDC builds a stronger, more stable community by representing and supporting the interests, engagement, and leadership of Allston Brighton’s diverse communities, institutions, individuals, and families of all incomes.

Description

Rapidly rising housing costs disproportionately affect the neighborhood’s most vulnerable residents, creating housing instability and displacement of low- and moderate-income individuals from critical community assets like public transportation, jobs, health care, their families, and more. ABCDC strives to create a vibrant neighborhood where people of many incomes, races, and gender identities can live and work.

Our home buying program opens doors to homeownership and provides First-Time Homebuyer education and financial coaching for low-to-moderate income people, opening doors to individuals seeking to stabilize their family’s financial situations. The housing development program is focused on stable, affordable rental housing by creating and preserving housing throughout Allston Brighton, a neighborhood that’s been feeling the effects of high rents and limited homeownership opportunities. Our community action program opens doors to personal and political power for local residents by mobilizing and supporting new voices for community leadership. Our resident services program opens doors to stable and secure housing for the 505 households within ABCDC properties by providing high quality affordable rental housing and case management services.
