Every week Sant'Egidio prepares and distributes approximately 200 dinners. We have been faithfully serving men and women living on the street for almost ten years now, never once missing a Tuesday. This moment is a moment to provide individuals with food, but more importantly a moment of encounter and of humanity. We go out in groups of 3-4, walking around to those who are unable or do not wish to move from where they stay - going out to find those in need.
Since the Pandemic, many soup kitchens and services to those on the street have closed. Those we have befriended over the years have been in even more need of fundamental services and human interaction.

Mission Statement
Sant’Egidio is a global network of volunteer Christian communities focused on service to the poor, peace-building, and prayer. The poor are not only recipients of services, but also involved in the creation of a network of solidarity that changes the fabric of society itself. No one is ever so poor as to be unable to help others. In this way, the poor help others, together with their brothers and sisters at Sant’Egidio. It is the first step towards building a society that starts from the last, in which all are treated according to their intrinsic value as human beings. Sant’Egidio works for and believes in a society based on interdependence and coexistence between generations, ethnic groups, religions, and all cultures.
Description
Sant’Egidio serves those who are most in need - elderly, homeless, migrants, people with disabilities, at-risk children, and prisoners.
Our service with the poor is rooted in gratuity and voluntary work. No person, not even the youngest or the poorest, is too poor or has too many difficulties to help those he or she meets. From our soup kitchens to our delivery of HIV treatment, from our Schools of Peace to the Humanitarian Corridors, we do it gratuitously and in friendship, all in the hope and belief that this is how we change the world.
