Isolation and chronic loneliness among our Veterans has been more evident due to the pandemic. The Compassionate Contact Corps program is designed to provide a referred Veteran an engaging social interaction with a volunteer. Our volunteers get to help Veterans on a very personal level, while the Veterans caregiver gets a brief respite during the virtual social exchange. This is not a clinical assignment, instead it is a social prescription program. A simple weekly phone call can go a long way and help in ways that we can't even imagine. Must commit to participate in program for a minimum of one year. It can be done from anywhere since it is virtual. Only require in person during the onboarding process (fingerprints, interview, training). At minimum one phone call a week for at least 15 minutes is required for participation in program. Monthly summary of call and hours must be submitted. This is based on yours and the Veterans availability. You may have more than one Veteran assigned to you, based on your availability and preference.
