At the Appell Center for the Performing Arts, we rely on the passion, enthusiasm and dedication of our volunteers to maintain our status as a cultural hub in the community. If you are looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity where you can help people, experience high-quality shows for free, and share your passion for the performing arts with others, become a volunteer at the Appell Center!
We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities, such as:
- Ushers & Ticket Takers
- Lobby & Outside Ambassadors
- Bartenders
- Concessions
- Merchandise Seller
- Coat Check
- Security
The Appell Center volunteer program welcomes all individuals who meet the following requirements:
- Proof of vaccination
- At least 16 years of age
- Complete a volunteer application
- Attend and complete orientation and training
- Able to perform required duties, including the ability to stand for extended periods of time

Description
Located in downtown York, the Appell Center for the Performing Arts serves as a leading arts presenter in south central Pennsylvania. The complex encompasses five buildings, including its two historic theaters - the Capitol Theatre, built in 1906 as a one-level dance hall and the Strand Theatre, which opened in 1925 primarily for vaudeville and silent movies. The center offers a diverse choice of shows, ranging from rock concerts and symphonies, to musicals and stand-up comedy.
