If you are looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity where you can help people, experience high-quality shows for free, and share your passion for the performing arts with others, become a volunteer at the Appell Center!

We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities, such as:

  • Ushers & Ticket Takers
  • Lobby & Outside Ambassadors
  • Bartenders
  • Concessions
  • Merchandise Seller
  • Coat Check
  • Security

The Appell Center volunteer program welcomes all individuals who meet the following requirements:

  • Proof of vaccination
  • At least 16 years of age
  • Complete a volunteer application
  • Attend and complete orientation and training
  • Able to perform required duties, including the ability to stand for extended periods of time

The Appell Center for the Performing Arts enriches the community through performing arts, education and entertainment.

Description

Located in downtown York, the Appell Center for the Performing Arts serves as a leading arts presenter in south central Pennsylvania. The complex encompasses five buildings, including its two historic theaters - the Capitol Theatre, built in 1906 as a one-level dance hall and the Strand Theatre, which opened in 1925 primarily for vaudeville and silent movies. The center offers a diverse choice of shows, ranging from rock concerts and symphonies, to musicals and stand-up comedy.
