Our Intergenerational Program is seeking passionate, youth-friendly, and caring adult volunteers, age 55+, to work with identified Long Term English Learner (LTEL) middle school students. Volunteers will help students to develop and improve their English language reading comprehension, skills, and abilities through interactive and educational activities. Volunteers will be paired with a middle school student and read, review, and discuss a pre-selected book once a week.
Youth will increase their reading and speaking abilities, as well as develop a meaningful relationship with their senior tutors through an intergenerational collaboration. Senior participants will gain experience with working with youth, including building close connections with members of the community and staff. Success will be measured through the increased reading, writing, and speaking skills of student participants.
