Volunteer Coordinator

The mission of The Freedom Memorial is to promote the legacy of Martin Luther and Coretta Scott King through education and outreach. Our growing nonprofit is seeking enthusiastic volunteers who are passionate about civil rights, equality, and empowerment. We are interested in welcoming interested volunteers who can commit to driving our message forward online and in-person. We are based in Allentown, PA however we are willing to expand our team nationwide.

Responsibilities:

Our volunteer coordinator is responsible for all aspects regarding volunteers. From recruiting new volunteers and promoting volunteer opportunities to conveying the organization's purpose to the public. Our vision for a volunteer coordinator is to help us build an effective and sustainable team who will help us carry our mission forward. You will be responsible for arranging all the details of volunteering and keeping all parties informed.

Time commitment: Part-time, minimum of 10 hours per week. Hours are flexible but we do ask for a consistent schedule.

Skills:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and focused volunteer coordinator to create and maintain an effective volunteer base for our nonprofit. You will be responsible for providing the training to our new volunteers along with maintaining communication to ensure all roles are being fulfilled.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

• Recruiting volunteers and listing on websites (freedommemorial.org, volunteermatch.org, facebook.com, etc.)
• Keeping a database of volunteers
• Matching volunteers with the appropriate role within the nonprofit
• Communicating with team members
• Organizational skills are a HUGE PLUS.
