Assemble and Deliver Wellness Kits to Pathfinders' Youth Shelter

Pathfinders’ Youth Shelter is open 365 days a year and provides emergency short-term shelter for adolescents ages 11-17. We also offer crisis counseling services for youth ages 18-21. Pathfinders operate one of only two state-licensed youth shelters serving the Milwaukee area, representing half of the available beds in the city for youth. During and after their shelter stay, we offer youth intensive counseling, case management, and basic needs and services that help them maintain safety and stability.
Wellness Kits are a great way for our staff to engage our young people during their stay with us. We often incorporate wellness activities and art therapy when engaging youth.
Wellness items can be put into Ziploc bags or other sealed packaging/cases. These items include:
- Essential Oils (Lavender, Bergamot, Lemon or Lime)
- Face masks
- Small Lotion
- Squishy (Example here )
- Colorful Pens/Journal/Sketch Book
- Adult Coloring Books/Colored Pencils
- Gum or Mints
- Homemade hand warmers/neck wraps (filled with dried beans or dried rice and dried herbs or essential oils). Example: https://pin.it/1hOPZPB
**We are also in need of gently used duffle bags to hand out to young people for storing their personal belongings upon their departure from our shelter. If you have any at home, please bring these along during your drop-off**
NOTE: We are asking that these items be purchased/supplied by volunteers to mitigate materials being transported out and back into our building as we weather the realities of this pandemic. Thank you for your support of our youth!
This volunteer project can be completed from the safety of your own home. Kits can be dropped off Monday - Friday between 11am - 4pm. Please wear a mask upon arrival at our Youth Shelter (1614 E Kane Place) and ring the front doorbell to alert a staff member of your arrival.
