The Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix is happy to continue to support the arts and community on First Fridays beginning October 2021.

Special Event Volunteer Staff are instrumental in educating about and celebrating Japanese culture and traditions. Volunteers will help set up and take down tables, chairs, and decorations, scan tickets, protect the Garden, answer questions, and support the JFG staff. There is much to do for each event. This volunteer position is best for people who are available evenings and weekends, and only want to volunteer occasionally.

Here are the instructions:

  1. Please wear closed-toed shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.
  2. Please wear a mask and keep socially distanced from others during your service.
  3. Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated.
  4. Please arrive on time for training and stay till the end of your shift.

Description

The Japanese Friendship Garden - also known as RoHoEn - is an authentic 3 1/2 acre Japanese Stroll Garden with a tea garden and tea house. This tranquil and beautiful setting features 1,500 tons of hand-picked rock, stone footbridges, lanterns and more than 50 varieties of plants. Flowing streams, a 12-foot waterfall and a Koi pond with over 300 colorful Koi fish refresh the senses. The Garden is the product and shared cultural vision of the Sister Cities of Phoenix and Himeji, Japan.
