Bemis Center’s Benefit Art Auction + Concert is Omaha’s largest and most beloved celebration of contemporary art. More than 200 local, regional, and national artists participate in the Auction, choosing between 50-100% commission on the sale of their works. All other proceeds are reinvested into Bemis Center’s three core programs-Residency, Exhibitions, and Public Programs-that infuse our region with new art and ideas year-round through a regular schedule of free programming.

This year, with an expanded footprint to include outside food and beverage service, mobile bidding, and live music at LOW END, Bemis Center's music venue, we aim to maintain social distancing and bring our community together for a celebration that raises critical resources for Bemis and participating artists.

About BEMIS CENTER FOR CONTEMPORARY ARTS

Location:

724 S 12TH ST, OMAHA, NE 68102, US

Mission Statement

Founded in 1981, by artists for artists, Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts supports today’s artists through an international residency program, temporary exhibitions and commissions, and innovative public programs. Located in the historic Old Market district, Bemis Center serves a critical role in the presentation and understanding of contemporary art, bridging the community of Omaha to a global discourse surrounding cultural production today.

Description

RESIDENCY PROGRAM

For more than three decades, Bemis Center has provided artists from around the world dedicated time, space, and resources to conduct research and to create new work. Frequently cited as one of the top international residency programs, Bemis Center offers artists private live/work studios, financial support, technical/administrative assistance, and opportunities for intellectual discourse about contemporary art through free public programs, such as panel discussions, lectures, and knowledge-sharing workshops. Nearly 900 artists have participated in the residency program.

Established in 2017 as the first of its kind in Nebraska, Bemis Center’s Curator-in-Residence Program provides a curator the opportunity to participate in the Bemis Residency Program, serve as a professional resource to Bemis artists-in-residence and the Greater Omaha arts community, and organize exhibitions and public programs at Bemis Center.

EXHIBITION PROGRAM

Bemis Center’s exhibition program features solo and group exhibitions of artwork in all media by local, national, and international artists. Exhibitions are always free, open to the public, and frequently introduce the community of Omaha to the most experimental and provocative art forms today.
