ORGANIZATION: I Want To Mow Your Lawn ®

I never thought I would be in this position, disabled and on fixed social security income, and overwhelmed with my lawn care. The person(s) I have hired knew my situation and sadly took advantage of me anyway. It's disheartening. Last April we had a tornado come through and I lost all 3 of my beautiful, huge Oak trees. The largest fell on my roof and the other two fell on my fence. I hired Universal Roofing to replace my roof and gutters, paint my family room ceiling and they were to put my ceiling fan back up. They did a great job at everything, except they still will not put my ceiling fan back up. I wish I would not have paid them in full until that was completed, but I trusted them & I did. They ignore my calls now. My Insurance company said I will have to pay an electrician out of my pocket now! I hired, what I thought was a legitimate Tree service, to be honest, he was the cheapest & a Christian. He had to tear down both gates to my fences on both sides of my house and a beautiful stone walkway to get his back-hoe in. He cut up all the limbs off the trees and hauled them off, he said he had to get a crane to get the 3 tree stumps out of the ground & explained he was also going to bring in enough fill dirt to fill up the holes and would repair any yard damage. He had worked so hard cutting down the trees, took video's to send to my insurance company, and he was so nice and honest. I paid him. He never came back and his number is disconnected. My back yard, stone walkway and both fences are a disaster. I am so embarrassed of my yard and I can't afford to pay thousands of dollars other companies want to charge. I have someone who cuts my yard and does a terrible job. He won't get the weeds, trim my bushes, edge or even pick up fallen tree limbs! He also does several of my neighbors yards and their yards are beautiful! If I could do my yard myself I would! I can't even pull my lawn mower starter because of my back! It's fused. I had back surgery, two weeks later my spine collapsed a broke. The pain was horrific! Doctor's could not remove the 4 Titanium cages. They had to take bone from my hip & pelvis to help rebuild my spine, along with Titanium rods, plates, bolts, and screws. I have to take morphine everyday for the pain. Six weeks later I was diagnosed with stage IIIb inoperable cervical cancer. I was devastated. At first had 9 weeks of radiation & chemo everyday. 2 tumors had died, but a third had shrunk but not dead. I had to have 9 more weeks of the strongest radiation allowed. Again, the tumor had only shrunk. I had to go in the hospital & have 37 radiation pellets surgically implanted, and I was quarantined for 7 days. The tumor is still visible, but Doctors say I am in remission, by the Grace of God. I was a single Mom & when I told my employer I had to have additional radiation, I lost my 26 year career in the Mortgage business. I was also declared disabled. It is devastating going from a 6 figure income to below poverty level! I had to use all my savings & 401 K during my treatments and surgeries to pay my mortgage and medical bills.

Can you help this nice woman who has been through so much?

Mission Statement

To preserve dignity, enable independence and build community by providing eco-friendly essential lawn service for the elderly, veterans and others in need.

Description

Launched in 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, I Want To Mow Your Lawn (r) , a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (Tax ID: 853447661), offers completely free lawn care to seniors over 65, military veterans, the disabled, and those facing financial challenges - all while prioritizing eco-friendly practices. Founder Brian Schwartz, who was laid off from his digital advertising job, saw it as a chance to make a difference when the world felt chaotic.

As time progressed, the demand surged, and a growing number of volunteers joined Brian's mission. Currently, over 340 volunteers across 40 states have revitalized more than 500 yards. For those receiving assistance from I Want To Mow Your Lawn(tm), the grass might not always be greener, but it's neatly trimmed, edged, and raked.

Global media coverage has led to an impressive six-fold increase in volunteer sign-ups for the upcoming 2023 spring-summer season.
