Calafia is California

The Californian Griffin California is named after Calafia, a mythic Black Amazon Warrior Queen. Almost no Californian knows this primarily because she’s Black and therefore was replaced with Minvera on the Cal Sea lamong many other efforts to erase her from history.

We are The CALAFIA Project, our purpose is to inform Californians of the Calafian part of their history, and to this end, we are about to stage a "dig" in which we will discover a "bone" seemingly from an extinct Griffin Californicus (Calafia and her woman army flew Griffins).

We are looking for anthropologists, paleontologists, and other folks in the scientific community, that would like to play along. In this theatrical way we will hopefully introduce Calafia to Californians and her story will be told.
