WHO WE ARE:
- Lantern is grounded in the mission to champion the independence and well-being of New Yorkers who are impacted by or threatened with homelessness. Our objective is to make sure that our residents can find and maintain stable housing through emergency shelter and supportive housing. Our on-site social services bring residents and staff together to create opportunities for personal recovery, wellness and growth.
- We have 16 supportive housing buildings located in Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx, and three shelters based in Manhattan and Queens.
We are currently seeking College Application Mentors who will provide support to individuals who are interested in starting the college application process.
- Research NYC/NY colleges
- Help find colleges that is right for the individual
- Use online college application portals to apply
- Provide information about college (i.e. scholarships, importance of joining clubs, and how to maintain college work)

- -Since we work with a vulnerable population, our government funders require that all volunteers undergo a background check and fingerprinting -Lantern requires all in-person volunteers to show proof of vaccination (COVID)
