We provide one-on-one tutoring to school-age students and adult learners who struggle with math. We use a structured curriculum, JJUMP math. All training and materials are provided to the volunteer free of charge.

Volunteers must attend 6 hours of training. Each volunteer is paired with one student. Schedule is flexible based on the needs of the student and the volunteer. Given the training investment, a one year commitment is preferred. Volunteers should expect to tutor 2 hours a week once training is completed.

New tutors are always needed. We expect an increase in demand for our tutoring services because of the impact COVID-19 has had on education delivery and employment.

Training is available in person or online. Tutoring can take place online or in person.

About The Legacy Center for Community Success

3200 James Savage Road, Suite 5, Midland, MI 48642, US

Mission Statement

We provide evidence-based learning and developmental strategies in collaboration with other organizations to help individuals reach their full potential.

The Legacy Center for Community Success (TLC) was formed in 2004 by Dr. Richard Dolinski to identify outside-the-classroom barriers to education and collaborate with other organizations to provide interventions that allow all children, youth and families to flourish and thrive. TLC has four organizational units:

  • Literacy Services (formerly the Literacy Council of Midland County)
  • Early Childhood Development
  • Youth Development
  • Families

Additionally, one of TLC’s core competencies is the evaluation of program outcomes. Outcomes-based program evaluations provide multiple benefits, including a determination of whether and to what extent a program is effective in achieving its objectives.
