Post lost and found dogs & reunions and monitor Lost Dogs Illinois Facebook messages and comments. Would prefer an Illinois resident so they know the state and locations. Must have good communication skills since will mostly be responding by texting. Limited phone calls.

Mission Statement

To educate and empower owners with resources and tools to assist them in locating their lost dogs. Provide finders of lost dogs with resources to facilitate more reunions with owners. Reduce the number of "strays" in shelters and animal control facilities. Educate the public on keeping their dogs safe.

Description

In total, LDI has currently distributed free microchips, ID tags & collar/leashes/harnesses to over 10,000 dogs (and cats)

LDI has presented at Best Friends Animal Conference in Atlanta, GA; Pets Alive Conference in Austin, TX; University of Illinois vet students, Wisconsin Federation of Humane Societies & Chicago Animal Law Lawyers Seminar.

LDI partnered with Lost Dogs of Wisconsin to create the educational website & Facebook page - Lost Dogs of America.

National Lost Dogs Awareness Day (April 23 rd) was created by LDI, LDOW and LDOT. It is now a national animal holiday.

LDI has been featured in many news articles, magazines &other media outlets including National Public Radio, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Tails, Illinois Veterinary Medical Association magazine, ABC news, Fox News, WCIU etc.

Microchip Hunters IL was created in 2018 to research dead end microchips & rabies tags, & partnered with Chicago Animal Care & Control. Veterinary Clinics, Good Samaritans, Police Departments and animal controls are encouraged to use this free service.

LDI assists with reclaim fees for families who need a little help.

LDI has donated microchip scanners to various police departments so dogs could be reunited in the field & not have to go to the shelters.

Last but not least, approx. 40,000 dogs have been reunited with the help of the community.
