As the American Red Cross continues to deliver critical services to your community during the current COVID-19 health crisis-preparation is underway for a very active hurricane season in the Gulf. Under a modified approach to sheltering families in the event of a large disaster, the Red Cross is seeking volunteers to serve in one of two roles.
Disaster Shelter Teams
Volunteers are needed to support the day-to-day activities in a shelter. These volunteers work in shifts in small, shelter environments performing tasks such as reception, registration, feeding, dormitory, information and more. Free online training is provided which emphasizes protocol for maximum safety in operating a shelter in a COVID-19 environment.
Disaster Health Services
Are you a licensed healthcare professional? Or, are you currently studying to become licensed? The Red Cross has a high need for health care workers to provide healthcare and assistance to shelter residents as needed. Free online training is provided which emphasizes protocol and maximum safety in caring for others in a COVID-19 environment.
