Mission Statement
Village Community Services supports adults having disabilities in achieving personal potential at home, work and in community life.
Description
Village Community Services (VCS) helps approximately 200 adults with disabilities each year. VCS’ Residential Services program provides the level of support each individual participant needs to live as independently as possible in their own home and community. Our skilled and caring staff provide life skills training and support in all aspects of daily living, including money management, shopping, cooking, grooming, recreation, etc.
VCS' Vocational Services program helps about 180 adults, who have a wide range of disabilities, to find and sustain employment each year. We provide hands-on assistance with job search, resume' development and interviewing. Once hired, participants receive on-going on-the-job training and support from VCS' vocational consultants.
VCS also operates a music program for adults who have developmental disabilities. The program includes weekly jam sessions, a monthly dance with live music, and our 24 member band, Voices of the Village. The band performs at community and charity events throughout NW Washington to an estimated audience of 2,500 per year. The community is welcome to join our weekly Friday Music jam sessions located in Arlington, WA.
