ORGANIZATION: Circulo de Vida Cancer Support and Resource Center

Image_202109221232

The covid-19 pandemic has delivered a serious blow to the health of the nation’s nonprofits, Círculo de Vida (CDV) included. Nonetheless, CDV staff remain committed to supporting our many clients during this challenging and scary time. This year has been like no other, filled with challenges and changes in lifestyle no one could have imagined. During difficult times the poor and low-income often suffer the most. The COVID-19 pandemic is no different. The impact of COVID-19 on our clients has been substantial. While the virus infects all regardless of socioeconomic status, our clients are seeing a greater impact due to longstanding economic hardships, crowded living conditions, the presence of chronic disease, and compromised immune systems due to cancer treatments. We need assistance in fundraising to rehire staff and add new staff.

About Circulo de Vida Cancer Support and Resource Center

Location:

2601 MISSION ST STE 500, San Francisco, CA 94110, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to walk alongside Latinos living with cancer and their families as they find their way through the fear, confusion and uncertainty of a cancer diagnosis. We aim to reduce the devastating effects of a cancer diagnosis by assisting Latinos in identifying coping skills that will assist them through the various stages of their illness, and support their ability to meet the challenge of a frightening disease.

Description

In the field of cancer, many of the inroads to increasing language-specific psycho-oncology support in the San Francisco Bay Area can be directly attributed to Circulo de Vida (CDV). CDV provides an invaluable service to Latinos living with cancer and their families, most of them immigrants, low-income, and without health insurance, as they navigate a frightening illness and an increasingly complex medical system.
