The Granite Education Foundation has recently launched the Fresh Food Program which combats food insecurity and promotes health equity. The program provides healthy foods such as milk, eggs, meat, and produce to school food pantries where they are easily accessible to students and families.
Volunteers are needed to help receive orders and ensure they are properly refrigerated and frozen and to help deliver fresh foods to schools.
There are currently three weekly opportunities to volunteer.
Wednesday Morning - 9am - Noon: Help receive food shipment, divvy items by school, place in fridges/freezers
Wednesday Afternoon - 1pm-4pm: Help receive food shipment, divvy items by school, place in fridges/freezers
Thursday Morning - 8am -11am: Help load pallets into truck. Follow truck to schools to unload food.
The United Way of Salt Lake strongly encourages all volunteers be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and, regardless of vaccination status, masks are required.
