As the Volunteer Coordinator, you are responsible for all local & international volunteers and interns onsite in Peru. You will manage advertising for open project volunteer & coordinator positions and will coordinate volunteers’ arrival, orientation, exit, and support all volunteers throughout their stay. Maintaining close relations with both our national and international volunteers and interns is the key to being successful in this position, as you will play a central part in their experience with Intiwawa.


Responsibilities

  • Manage all job advertising on our different recruitment platforms and coordinate job advertisements on our website together with our Website coordinator
  • Maintain job descriptions up to date
  • Coordinate with the People & Culture team and with the General Director and Project Coordinator to ensure all volunteers and interns receive a proper induction and orientation as well as support and help resolve any issues during their stay with us
  • Be the point of contact for future and current volunteers
  • Check-in regularly with all volunteers and interns and update the General director & Project manager of any issues
  • Ensure that all local and international volunteers and interns feel fully integrated in our team
  • Conduct exit interviews and analysis of the exit interviews every 3 months
  • Organize team-building activities & events

Requirements

  • Excellent written and spoken English and Spanish
  • High level of motivation, initiative and confidence
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and intercultural communication skills and ability to work in multicultural, collaborative environment
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to new environments, resourcefulness, and sensitivity to cultural differences
  • Ability to work effectively both individually and as a member of a team


Details

  • At least 6 months commitment
  • Weekly hours will vary, but are typically around 30-35 hours per week
  • Flexible, unconventional schedule
  • Work-related expenses are covered

Intiwawa is a dynamic and young organization with the goal of fighting poverty in the slums of Arequipa, the second largest city in Peru. Founded as a German-Peruvian organization in 2007, we now consist of an international team volunteering in Peru and in Germany. Our goal is the integral development of the children and their parents and a sustainable improvement of their living standards.
