Storage and Inventory Manager for Merrimack Valley and Greater Newburyport Area

Are you excited about helping pets in need? Do you value the importance of pets for people’s well-being? Would you like to help us in our mission to ensure pet food security for those in need while making valuable connections with people in the nonprofit animal sheltering and food pantry fields, while helping your community?

Please join the Pet Food Task Force as a Volunteer Storage and Inventory Manager for Northern Merrimack Valley/ Greater Newburyport area!

The Pet Food Task Force is a coalition of animal shelters and animal welfare organizations in MA, headed by our parent organization PAWSitive Pantry in VT. PFTF is a program which has provided low-income MA residents with pet food security since March of 2020, via ensuring over 130 food pantries and other organizations have pet food for their patrons.

Pet food security allows people to keep their pets despite financial difficulty, which is of course good for the health and well-being of pet owners and of pets. It also reduces strain on shelters because pet food security can reduce surrenders.

We are looking for a dedicated person who can take in donations of pet food from areas including Haverhill, Merrimac, Amesbury, Salisbury, and from towns anywhere from Topsfield up to Newburyport along Route 1. The donations will be acquired by other volunteers. We just need a storage space for them until they can go to the organizations in need. This applicant should have enough space to accommodate a large amount of dry and canned pet food and cat litter, and work with a volunteer and transport coordinator to ensure certain pantries in the area receive donations (which are transported by other volunteers) at the scheduled times the pantries are able to receive them. This person would be expected to join the Crew app, which we utilize to communicate efficiently with each other, in order to stay up to date on where in MA food is needed and communicate whether he/she has excess food, cat litter, or pet accessories available to contribute to other areas.

The storage space would need to be climate-controlled.

Benefits to volunteers include the opportunity to represent a community service organization, the chance to be an integral member of a large team of service-minded people, and the ability to network with many people who work and volunteer in animal sheltering and food security.

Volunteers will be expected to complete a short virtual interview. Resume not required. If you have any special skills you feel are relevant, please let us know when replying.
